For centuries, artists have drawn on cartography as a source of conceptual inspiration. Maps serve as rich backdrops to explore imposed physical boundaries, political and social territories, and personal notions of power and perimeter. These six artists use and respond to maps as a subject matter to question how we create and interpret boundaries.

In the Alcove Gallery is a small exhibition of vintage and antique maps from the collection of Ron E. Swain, on generous loan from the Spartanburg County Regional History Museum.

ARTISTS: Robert Bubp, Jennifer Bueno, Firat Erdim, Chad Erpelding, Keren Kroul, and Amy Schissel.
